This week we made our first trip to the town of Salama, an area that has a Church district and three branches where we expect to do a lot of work. It took nearly four hours to make the 120 mile trek, much of it over narrow mountain roads. Salama is situated in a beautiful green valley, and is surrounded by farms. We stayed in a very clean, nice hotel, one that had been hand-picked by the mission president and his wife as they have done much travel throughout the mission. This hotel is located at the end of a dirt road, nestled among the neighboring homes. Directly over the fence lives a rooster! We always thought that roosters crow at the crack of dawn...but not this one. He started about 4 a.m. And he was joined by another neighboring rooster, each trying to out-do the other. This non-stop show went on without a break until it started to get light about 6:00 a.m. Then they both quieted down as the sun came up. Like us, they probably wanted to get a little sleep!
