This week we had two trips to San Pedro Ayumpuc, the branch about an hour north of here where we have attended Church each week. This branch has about 150 members, but only 30-40 attend on Sunday. On Wednesday we went up to do some visits with the missionaries. We met with some investigators in their very humble homes--some had walls and roofs of corrugated metal and dirt floors. One lady had a new baby girl only three weeks old, and it was fun to hold the baby even though she was bundled with way too many blankets for such a warm house, at least in my opinion. We also climbed a steep "cobble-stone" street to meet with another lady. She makes a living making marshmallow "pigs" on a stick, sort of like a lollipop, that her husband sells on the street corner. Then we drove back up today for meetings, after which we did some visits with the Relief Society president to invite members to attend Stake Conference next week. On our way home we ran into a bit of a traffic-stopper...horses in the road. We often find various animals in the road, but these seemed a bit more stubborn about moving.
