Driving in Guatemala City

For the time being we share a truck with the office Elders…actually we have it most of the time, and they use it occasionally.  It has a stick shift, which always makes driving in a strange city and parking in tight spots an adventure.   Rick has had to learn how to drive Guatemala-style.   Here are a few of the new rules he has learned.  1) Stopping at stop signs is optional.  2) If you need to stop anywhere you choose, just put on your flashers.  3) Right-of-way belongs to the larger vehicle.   4) One-way streets are not always posted.  5) Pedestrians and dogs have to fend for themselves.  6) Jay-walking is legal…if you dare.   Beyond that, there are no rules!
