Elder and Sister Johnson

Elder and Sister Johnson are preparing to finish their mission in a week.  Their mission was quite different than most.  He is one of the three dentists who serve in a clinic here, providing dental care for the missionaries, missionary candidates who are preparing their papers, and children in various orphanages.  They have been here for 18 months.  During that time, he has provided care in the clinic for over 1200 patients, performing over 7000 procedures!  Every Latin American missionary who comes into the local MTC receives a screening for any needed dental work, as the work they have previously received, if any, is often sub-standard.  In addition, the dentists also take their clinic on the road monthly, and have serviced probably half that many more patients throughout Guatemala!  The Johnsons also attend a local branch, and are seen here holding the youngest member of that branch.  And they have done all this with very little Spanish!  Sister Johnson directs the singing in Sacrament Meeting and in the little Primary of 8 or 10 children.  In spite of the language barrier, the Guatemalans they've met know that the Johnsons love them, because they are able to communicate that!
