September 15th was Independence Day for Guatemala... and all of Central America. Once again we enjoyed watching their patriotism and celebration. The party went on for three days! Festivities include torch-bearing runners. These runners, mostly youth, began their runs on Friday carrying homemade, lighted torches. They ran in groups along major roads, made a lot of noise with whistles, and seemed to have a great time, with different groups beginning their runs at all hours of the day and night, Friday through Sunday. The night runners were especially spectacular!
