San Jerónimo

San Jerónimo is a small town with a great big entrance!  It is located in the same valley as Salamá, but is smaller and has a very different feel from Salamá.  Although we see some motorcycles, we also often see oxen-pulled wagons, giving it a more agrarian feel.  They also have the remnants of an aqua duct that once carried water to a mill.  You might remember that the missionaries did a Christmas service project at an orphanage in this town last year. We've seen a lot of growth in the San Jerónimo branch.  When we first visited there, they only had seventy members present.  A few months later there was a leadership change with a new branch president, a good man who had been serving in the district presidency.  In addition, their branch mission leader proposed a new program that would involve the branch members more in missionary work.  The branch was also assigned another missionary companionship.  The results of these three changes has been increased attendance at meetings...now about 120 strong!  It just goes to show what good leadership and member involvement can do!
